Anyone who does anything to help a child is a Hero to me.

McKinney-Vento (McV) students can be kinder thru 12th grade at any school in the district. They qualify for that list because they have had a loss of housing or are in a temporary housing situation due to any number of challenging circumstances. The McKinney-Vento program is a federal program with very specific boundaries on how funds can be spent. These include help with transportation, tutoring, PE uniforms, etc. -school related costs. In the past, OC Snuggle blankets are given to just these students.
The Pioneer Pantry, a weekend food bag program, USUALLY consists of food-insecure students at any of the Oregon City area high schools: OCHS, OCSLA, CAIS, Jackson Prep or Bridges to Independence (a post high school transition program for students with special needs). I say 'usually' because due to COVID-19 we have expanded our service and mission to a delivery model where we also deliver food bags to the younger siblings of those high schoolers (with the help of the Backpack Buddy programs). The Pioneer Pantry is a not for profit type organization started by district staff to support high school students in need. All of their funds are raised through community grants and donations. It is the Pantry that coordinates with Oregon City Rotary and other groups to help fund things like band fees, yearbooks and holiday treat bags |
Please help us reach our goal of $3,000 so we can make 150 No-Sew Fleece Blankets.
